Coastal Oceanography

Habitat Reconstruction     Beach Renourishment

NSN has performed a wide range of coastal oceanographic services, including large-scale flushing of inland water bodies, subsurface mapping and classification of coastal sediments, and computer modeling of hydrodynamic and sediment transport processes in near-shore environments.

Habitat Reconstruction

Anguilla Flushing Channels

NSN performed a series of marine MER transects in order to map the geology and stratigraphy of a flushing channel site.  The flushing channels were used to turn a stagnant salt pond into a productive marine lagoon.

Beach Renourishment
CRP surveys are a superior method for exploring offshore sand deposits for beach enrichment projects.  The surveys may be conducted in fresh water environments as well as in salty or even in hyper-saline waters.  The data collected produce a cross section of the bathymetry of the ocean or lake floor and the electrical resistivity of the underlying sediments.  The electrical resistivity correlates to the sediment type and allows mapping of the thickness of recent sediment deposits over aged sediments.
